During the AWS Summit Bogotá, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced its investment in Synthera AI, a Colombian startup specializing in artificial intelligence for financial teams. This initiative is part of the global Generative AI Accelerator program, through which the company aims to support 40 startups worldwide.

The investment includes up to US$1 million in AWS credits, technical mentorship, and business advisory. With this backing, AWS reinforces its commitment to the growth of the Latin American tech ecosystem and to the development of talent in artificial intelligence and cloud services, positioning Colombia as a strategic hub for its regional expansion.

AWS Invests in Synthera AI: A Bet on Financial Artificial Intelligence

Synthera AI was selected by AWS for its focus on solutions that optimize financial management through artificial intelligence. Its technology aims to enhance analysis processes and decision-making within corporate finance teams. This investment, made through the Generative AI Accelerator program, will provide the company with access to advanced technical resources and mentorship from global experts.

The AWS program seeks to accelerate the growth of startups that generate value through generative AI. Alongside Synthera AI, 39 other companies worldwide will receive support and tools to strengthen their technological competitiveness and expand into international markets.

Entrena Colombia: Free Training in AI and Cloud

As part of the event, AWS also introduced Entrena Colombia, a public–private co-investment initiative that aims to train 500,000 Colombians in artificial intelligence and cloud services by 2028. The project responds to the shortage of technical talent in the region, where 48% of tech vacancies remain unfilled, according to Fedesoft.

Its strategic partners include Ramo, Nequi, Tigo, and Fenalco, as well as the city governments of Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali. The program offers free, progressive training, from basic to advanced levels, and will be delivered through platforms accessible to all users.

Examples of participation include:

  • With Ramo, 75,000 people will be trained through the Gansito Gaming Hub.
  • With Nequi, courses will be integrated into its B2B platform and mobile app.
  • In Medellín, 30,000 citizens will receive training in digital skills.

A Growing Technology Ecosystem

The third edition of AWS Summit Bogotá gathered more than 4,500 attendees and offered 45 sessions, 25 workshops, and an executive track for business leaders. The event reinforced the country’s relevance as a strategic hub for AWS in Latin America.

Colombia is the first jurisdiction outside the United States where local companies can sell their software solutions on the AWS Marketplace. According to Accenture, the impact of AI on Colombia’s GDP could reach US$88 billion, while IDC projects an 18% annual increase in cloud adoption. Additionally, cloud technologies have created 1.4 million jobs, a figure that could grow by 64% by 2038, reaching 2.3 million positions, according to FTI Consulting.

A Comprehensive Commitment to Digital Transformation

AWS’s investment in Synthera AI and the launch of Entrena Colombia reaffirm the company’s strategy to drive technological innovation across Latin America. These initiatives strengthen the artificial intelligence ecosystem, support the development of digital talent, and position Colombia as a regional leader in cloud- and AI-based solutions. Through these efforts, AWS consolidates its role as a catalyst for digital transformation, boosting both business competitiveness and technological inclusion.
