Betterfly Acquires minu to Build Mexico's Largest Employee Benefits Platform

Betterfly has strengthened its position in the Mexican market through the acquisition of minu, in one of the largest startup transactions in Latin America. The deal brings together health, insurance and financial wellness solutions under a single platform, expanding its reach to more than one million employees across 4,000 companies in Mexico.

A landmark deal in Mexico's corporate benefits market

The acquisition marks a turning point for the employee benefits industry in Mexico. By integrating minu's financial wellness and compensation solutions with Betterfly's health, insurance and preventive care offerings, the combined company aims to deliver a comprehensive platform designed to address the evolving needs of today's workforce.

With operations spanning more than 4,000 companies and serving over one million employees, the new ecosystem positions Betterfly as one of the most robust employee benefits platforms in the country.

"Betterfly and minu are two platforms built to solve the same problem from different angles: one through health and insurance, the other through compensation and financial wellbeing. Together, we cover the complete spectrum of what an employee truly needs," said Eduardo della Maggiora, founder and CEO of Betterfly.

Expanding access to financial wellness solutions

The integration adds a range of financial benefits that have gained traction among employers seeking to improve employee satisfaction and retention.

Among these offerings is on-demand salary access, allowing employees to withdraw wages they have already earned without waiting for traditional payroll cycles. The platform also incorporates modern grocery and fuel benefits with open networks and competitive pricing structures.

These solutions are already being used by organizations such as Grupo Modelo, Liverpool, Televisa Univisión, Coppel and Avis.

For Nima Pourshasb, co-founder and CEO of minu, the agreement represents an opportunity to accelerate the company's original mission.

"Joining Betterfly, a global company with a strong investment plan in Mexico, allows us to move faster in our mission to improve the financial health of millions of workers while enhancing talent retention and productivity for companies of all sizes across the country," he said.

Artificial intelligence to anticipate employee needs

Beyond expanding its portfolio of benefits, the combined platform also seeks to transform how organizations manage employee wellbeing.

The ecosystem incorporates advanced analytics and artificial intelligence capabilities, including aiRA, designed to shift companies away from reactive programs toward predictive models that proactively support their workforce.

These tools can identify emerging needs, recommend relevant benefits and optimize engagement initiatives in real time.

"The combination of physical health and financial health results in a platform capable of generating a meaningful impact on employees' holistic wellbeing," said Rafa Niel, co-founder and COO of minu.

Building a holistic approach to employee wellbeing

The acquisition reflects a broader evolution in the corporate benefits landscape, where organizations increasingly recognize the connection between physical, emotional and financial health.

By bringing together complementary solutions within a single ecosystem, Betterfly and minu aim to provide employers with a more integrated approach to supporting their teams while helping businesses improve retention, productivity and employee engagement.

With this transaction, Betterfly reinforces its commitment to the Mexican market and advances its vision of delivering comprehensive wellbeing solutions to workers throughout the region.
