Magnar Raises US$8 Million to Strengthen Legal AI Platform and Enter Brazil and Mexico
Magnar raises new funding to expand its AI-powered legal platform, strengthen its presence in Latin America, and enter Brazil and Mexico.
Magnar is expanding its presence across Latin America after raising a new funding round to strengthen its AI-powered legal platform, grow its team, and continue developing tools designed specifically for lawyers in the region.
Founded just over a year ago, Magnar now works with nearly 30,000 users and 350 law firms. The company is using the new investment to improve its platform in its existing markets while preparing to enter Brazil and Mexico.
Building AI for the Legal Profession in Latin America
Magnar was created around a challenge familiar to lawyers: legal work involves extensive research, reviewing large amounts of information, drafting documents, and repeatedly checking that work.
The platform brings legal research, large-scale information analysis, and document drafting and review together in one place. It also integrates with tools lawyers already use in their daily work, including Word and Outlook.
A key part of Magnar's approach is adapting its technology to the legal systems of each market. The platform works with its own databases of regulations and case law, allowing users to open and review the references behind the information and reach their own conclusions.
“We put the technology; the judgment and legal decisions remain yours,” the company explains.
Today, Magnar operates in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.

Strengthening Its Presence Across Existing Markets
The new funding will first be used to continue improving Magnar for the users and law firms already working with the platform.
In Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Argentina, the company plans to deepen its presence and work more closely with law firms and legal teams using the platform. The same effort will continue across Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.
This expansion includes growing Magnar's databases of regulations and case law, improving its research, analysis, and drafting tools, and adapting the platform to the specific way legal professionals work in each country.
For Magnar, the investment is intended to translate directly into improvements for the users and firms that have supported the platform since its early stages.
Brazil and Mexico: Magnar's Next Markets
Another major focus of the investment will be Magnar's entry into Brazil and Mexico.
The company plans to establish commercial teams and its own offices in both countries. Together, Brazil and Mexico have approximately 1.9 million lawyers, representing a significant opportunity for the platform.
Magnar is already building the legal information infrastructure required to operate in these markets, including the databases needed to address the complexity of their federal legal systems.
Expanding into these countries will require additional development capacity and continued work around the specific characteristics of each legal system. The company says the investment will be dedicated to expanding its development team and advancing this work.
Who Invested in Magnar's New Round?
The round was led by 6 Degrees Capital, an English fund, together with Mexican fund Hi Ventures as co-lead investors. FEN Ventures, Platanus Ventures, and Nascent Ventures also participated.
Magnar is also receiving continued support from some of the region's most prestigious law firms.
Beccar Varela, one of Argentina's most recognized law firms, is joining Magnar as an investor. The firm follows Carey in Chile, which had already invested in the company.
For Magnar, the participation of firms with direct experience in the legal sector represents an important vote of confidence in the platform and the technology it is developing.
A New Stage for Magnar
The new round marks another stage in Magnar's effort to build an AI platform specifically designed around the legal professionals, regulations, and working practices of Latin America.
As CEO Andrés Arellano explains:
“We started Magnar thinking about the lawyers of this region, with their codes, languages, and ways of working. This round allows us to dedicate more people and resources to building a better platform for those who already trust us and bringing that work to more lawyers across Latin America.”
With its current presence in seven countries and plans to open Brazil and Mexico, Magnar will focus the new investment on strengthening its technology, expanding its legal information databases, and growing the team needed to support its expansion across the region.
