dr.consulta Secures US$30 Million From IFC to Expand Healthcare Access in Brazil
dr.consulta secures US$30 million from IFC to expand from 32 to 80 clinics in Brazil and reach 10 million users by 2030.
dr.consulta, a Brazilian healthtech focused on affordable healthcare services, has secured a US$30 million investment (approximately R$155 million) from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. The funding will support the company's expansion beyond São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with plans to increase its network from 32 to 80 clinics and reach 10 million users by 2030.
dr.consulta Plans to Expand Its Healthcare Network Across Brazil
The investment, announced on Thursday, the 24th, represents a new stage in dr.consulta's growth strategy as the company seeks to extend its healthcare services to additional regions of Brazil.
Currently, the healthtech operates 32 company-owned clinics across São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. With IFC's financial support, it plans to increase that number to 80 facilities, expanding its physical presence beyond the two states where it currently operates.
The company has also established a goal of reaching 10 million users by 2030, combining its physical infrastructure with digital healthcare services.
Massanori Shibata Jr., CEO of dr.consulta, said the investment supports the company's efforts to make healthcare more accessible.
"This investment validates our commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for millions of Brazilians. Over the past few years, we have built a platform designed to scale while maintaining quality of care, operational efficiency and a focus on the patient experience," Shibata said.
Affordable Healthcare Services and Subscription Plans
Founded in 2011, dr.consulta has served approximately four million patients since its launch. Its business model focuses on providing healthcare services at prices designed to make medical attention more accessible to the Brazilian population.
Individual medical consultations start at R$45, while the company also offers subscription plans that combine different healthcare services.
One of its annual subscription options costs R$39.80 per month and includes access to medical consultations, telehealth services, discounts on medical examinations and procedures, and dental care.
For patients seeking remote medical assistance, dr.consulta offers an online healthcare subscription costing R$9.90 per month under an annual plan, with an additional R$59 charged per consultation.
These options form part of the company's strategy to provide alternatives for patients seeking affordable healthcare through both physical clinics and digital channels.

Technology and Telehealth Support National Expansion
Beyond its clinic network, dr.consulta has invested in technology to improve healthcare delivery and operational efficiency.
The company operates systems that enable the interoperability and portability of clinical data, facilitating the management and exchange of patient information.
It has also developed artificial intelligence solutions designed to support patients as they navigate healthcare services. One example is Veri, a virtual assistant available through WhatsApp.
A significant step in its digital expansion came in late 2025, when dr.consulta introduced a telehealth subscription service.
The initiative was designed to extend the company's healthcare services nationwide, including remote areas where access to physical clinics may be limited.
Today, more than 600,000 people receive care through the company's online consultation services.

IFC Investment Follows Operational Transformation
The new funding follows a period of operational changes supported by dr.consulta's previous investment round, which involved Patria Investimentos, Lightrock, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and IDB Invest, the private-sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Over recent years, the company has expanded its healthcare delivery model while increasing its focus on technology and operational efficiency.
According to Bruno Tupinambá, Managing Director at Patria Investimentos, the latest investment recognizes the progress made by the healthtech, particularly in a period of reduced market liquidity.
"With positive cash generation, growing recurring revenue and an efficient, scalable platform, the company has established itself as a leader in access to quality healthcare and is prepared to meet growing demand in Brazil," Tupinambá said.
IFC Highlights Healthcare Access and Job Creation

For IFC, the investment aligns with the World Bank Group's focus on sectors that can contribute to employment and inclusive economic growth.
Carmen Valéria de Paula, IFC Manager for Health, Education, Tourism and Services in Latin America and the Caribbean, explained that healthcare has been identified as one of the sectors with significant potential to generate jobs and support inclusive development.
The investment in dr.consulta represents one of the institution's initiatives to contribute to this objective.
"By supporting dr.consulta's expansion, IFC is helping strengthen access to affordable, quality healthcare for underserved populations while generating more than 5,000 jobs," de Paula said.
With the new capital, dr.consulta plans to accelerate its expansion across Brazil, combining additional physical clinics with digital healthcare services.
The company's strategy focuses on extending its geographic reach, strengthening its technology platform and increasing the number of patients who can access its services as it works toward its 2030 growth target.
