MILA Stories Raises US$800K to Build AI-Powered Memory Tech Through WhatsApp

MILA Stories is building a new approach to preserving human memories through artificial intelligence. The Latin American startup has developed a technology that interviews multiple people simultaneously via WhatsApp and transforms their conversations into collaborative stories, positioning itself within the emerging memory tech category.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape content creation, a growing number of startups are focusing on a different challenge: preserving memories, family stories, corporate history, and personal legacy. This emerging segment, known as memory tech, is where MILA Stories aims to establish its presence.

The company's founder, Argentine entrepreneur based in the United States Ezequiel Fonseca Zas, said the idea was inspired by a simple question: what happens to the memories that are now scattered across chats, voice notes, photos, and digital messages?

"We are building a machine to capture collective memory," Fonseca Zas explained. "The most valuable assets are not only photos or files, but also the stories, voices, and shared memories between people."

A Conversational AI Built Around WhatsApp

Rather than organizing existing digital content, MILA Stories functions as a conversational interviewer through WhatsApp.

The platform sends personalized questions to family members, friends, teams, or communities, creating dozens of individual conversations simultaneously. Participants respond using text messages, photos, voice notes, and personal anecdotes.

Once the conversations are completed, the technology compiles the collected material into a single collaborative narrative, transforming multiple perspectives into one unified story.

From Printed Books to Digital Storytelling

The company's first products were printed books created from WhatsApp conversations.

Today, MILA Stories is expanding beyond printed formats into video and other digital storytelling experiences built around collective memories and shared narratives.

The evolution reflects the company's broader vision of using artificial intelligence not simply to generate content, but to preserve meaningful human experiences.

More Than 70,000 Conversations Generated

Since its launch, MILA Stories has facilitated more than 70,000 conversations through its platform.

Its technology has been adopted by both individual users and organizations seeking to document founding stories, company anniversaries, tributes, and brand legacy projects through collaborative storytelling.

The startup currently operates with a distributed team across Argentina, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, and Miami.

US$800K Pre-Seed Round Supports Expansion

MILA Stories recently secured a US$800,000 pre-seed funding round, providing additional resources as the company seeks to strengthen its position within the growing memory tech market.

According to the company, while many AI tools are focused on producing images, videos, or text almost instantly, its objective is fundamentally different.

"Today there are tools capable of creating images, texts, or videos in seconds. We are focused on something different: capturing memories and transforming human conversations into stories with emotional value," the company stated.

By combining conversational AI with collaborative storytelling, MILA Stories is positioning itself within a category where technology is increasingly being used not only to create content, but also to preserve human history and shared experiences.
