Panama City-based startup Neutrl secures USD 5M

The Panama City-based startup Neutrl has announced the raising of USD 5 million in a Seed investment round. The company is developing an innovative DeFi protocol that introduces a market-neutral synthetic dollar, called $NUSD, focused on arbitrage strategies in over-the-counter (OTC) markets. This new capital will allow the company to scale its technology and solidify its presence in the growing decentralized finance ecosystem.

A round backed by leaders in DeFi and institutional trading

The round was led by STIX and Accomplice, with participation from prominent institutional investors such as Amber Group, SCB Limited (SIG), Figment Capital, and Nascent. These players have backed Neutrl's potential to offer an innovative and efficient solution for capital usage within the DeFi space.

Additionally, notable angel investors from the crypto and financial worlds joined, including:

  • Guy Young and Steven Shi, co-founders of Ethena
  • Josh Lim, from Arbelos Markets
  • Flood, from Insilico Trading
  • Jez and Huss, from izebel.eth
  • DCF Capital

The diversity and experience of these participants reflect a strong validation of Neutrl’s business model, as well as the market’s interest in new proposals that bridge traditional finance with decentralized finance.

$NUSD: A new generation of synthetic dollars

Neutrl's main product is $NUSD, a capital-efficient synthetic dollar designed to be delta-neutral and yield-generating. This unconventional stablecoin is backed by discounted assets and strategies aimed at minimizing market exposure, thus providing greater stability and utility for institutional investors and OTC traders.

Neutrl's approach seeks to bridge private OTC markets with DeFi platforms, unlocking new possibilities for efficiency and liquidity in a historically isolated environment from decentralized technologies.

Behrin Naidoo

At the helm of the project is Behrin Naidoo, CEO of Neutrl, leading a team focused on developing DeFi solutions that address real market needs for institutional clients.

With this capital infusion, the company plans to expand its operations, continue developing its protocol, and reinforce its mission to bring more liquidity, transparency, and efficiency to the crypto ecosystem from Latin America.
