Roma AI, the Uruguayan-Chilean startup that enables companies to create, operate and govern artificial intelligence agents connected to their internal systems, has raised US$1.2 million in a seed round led by Invexor Venture Partners.

Founded by Richard Barbera, Javier Hernández and Benjamín De Oto, Roma AI develops a platform that allows businesses to integrate AI agents directly with internal systems, including calendars, payment platforms, catalogs and proprietary developments.

The company was conceived by Barbera in February 2025, following years of experience leading the development of conversational assistants for major retailers such as Cencosud. After validating its prototype with companies willing to pay from the beginning, the startup was incubated at Ingenio and later added angel investor Ramón Heredia before incorporating the company in Chile in May 2025.

Today, Roma AI processes more than 500,000 messages per month for over 50 companies across the region.

Governance and security are central to Roma AI's platform

Roma AI's approach goes beyond automation by incorporating a governance layer that includes traceability, business rules, auditing and continuous monitoring of every action performed by an AI agent.

The platform is designed to integrate within a company's own infrastructure, allowing sensitive data to remain there rather than leaving the client's environment.

You cannot give OpenAI direct access to your systems because of regulatory concerns. Our platform integrates within the company, and sensitive data stays there,” said Richard Barbera.

Companies are already using the platform to manage the end-to-end sale of an auto loan or coordinate an appointment at a dental clinic without human intervention.

A conversation-based business model

Roma AI charges based on conversation volume rather than on a project basis. Its plans for small and medium-sized businesses start at US$99 per month for 500 conversations, while corporate accounts can handle up to 10,000 conversations and include dedicated support.

The company's growth strategy combines acquiring new customers with selling additional services within existing accounts.

We have strong retention. So far, no corporate client has canceled the service,” Barbera said.

Roma AI plans to grow its team from 9 to 30 employees

With the new funding, Roma AI plans to allocate 55% of the capital to hiring, with the goal of expanding its team from nine to 30 employees within six months, several of whom will be based in Uruguay.

Another 33% of the funding will be directed toward marketing and events, while the remaining capital will go to technology and infrastructure.

The new investment will support the company's expansion as it continues to grow its customer base and deepen its presence within existing accounts through additional services.
