Unergy has strengthened its position in Colombia’s clean energy landscape after closing a new funding round that will boost the deployment of its small-scale solar power farms known as “minigranjas.”

The company’s model focuses on unlocking faster permitting, financing, and investment participation to expand decentralized solar generation across the country.

US$4M Pre-Series A Round and US$80M for Minigranja Development

The Colombian startup raised $4 million in a Pre-Series A round, complemented by an additional $80 million earmarked specifically to finance and deploy new minigranjas. These funds will support the construction of 80 additional small-scale solar farms, significantly increasing Unergy’s capacity.

Unergy operates a software platform that streamlines key steps in the development of solar projects, such as approvals, funding processes, and investor participation. Beyond providing the digital infrastructure, the company also functions as a project developer, structuring and executing the minigranjas it brings to market.

Scaling Toward a Decentralized Energy Future

CEO and co-founder Eduardo Ospina highlighted the significance of the investment, stating that:

The new capital allows us to multiply the number of Minigranjas in the country and demonstrates confidence in a decentralized generation model Colombia needs.” He added that the team has built “a pipeline of more than 100 MWp across 80 Minigranjas,” underscoring the scale of the upcoming expansion.

With this latest capital injection, Unergy continues positioning itself as a key player in Colombia’s transition toward decentralized clean energy. The upcoming wave of minigranjas marks a significant step in expanding access to solar power, reinforcing the company’s mission to make sustainable energy generation more efficient and widely distributed across the country.
