Bladex Posts 15% Increase in Q3 Net Profit to $63.2 Million

Bladex, Inc. (NYSE: BLX), the multinational bank established to foster foreign trade and economic integration across Latin America and the Caribbean, announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, demonstrating sustained momentum across core markets. During the period ended September 30, 2026, the institution delivered a net profit of $63.2 million, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

Bladex Reports Stronger Profitability

The robust quarterly performance was underpinned by all-time high levels of Net Interest Income (NII) and disciplined commercial expansion. NII reached a record $79.8 million, representing an 18% year-over-year expansion driven primarily by higher average business volumes. Earnings per share settled at $1.48 for the third quarter, while the annualized Return on Equity (ROE) stood at an adjusted 15.0%, reflecting optimized funding structures and enhanced revenue diversification.

Credit Portfolio Reaches US$16.58 Billion

Underpinning this growth, the Bank's total credit portfolio scaled to a record $16.58 million, a 35% surge year-over-year. Executive management maintained strict asset quality controls, with 99.1% of the credit portfolio classified as low-risk or Stage 1, while maintaining a well-managed efficiency ratio of 25.8%. Chief Financial Officer Annette van Hoorde de Solís and executive leadership noted that continuous investments in talent, technology, and strategic regional initiatives successfully balanced operating discipline with robust volume growth. Reflecting continued confidence in its capital position, Bladex’s Board of Directors approved a quarterly common dividend of $0.6875 per share.

Liquidity and Regional Trade Finance

The strong third-quarter metrics arrive amid a complex macroeconomic backdrop characterized by shifting interest rate cycles and varying liquidity conditions across Latin American financial markets. Competitive lending pressures continue to influence regional short-term asset spreads; however, Bladex’s proactive funding optimization and a solid liquidity position, standing at $1.96 million or 12% of total assets, have insulated the bank against external shocks.

With non-interest income contributing 19% of total revenues through expanded letters of credit, guarantees, and client derivatives, the institution has demonstrated heightened resilience. As nearshoring trends and supply chain realignments encourage cross-border commerce and manufacturing investments throughout Central America and the wider region, financial intermediaries like Bladex play a crucial role in supplying the liquidity required to sustain long-term economic growth and trade infrastructure development.
