Neobank Revolut Plans Expansion into Colombia by 2026
Revolut, one of the world’s largest neobanks with more than 60 million global users, is preparing to launch operations in Colombia.

Revolut, one of the world’s largest neobanks with more than 60 million global users, is preparing to launch operations in Colombia. The company is in the final stages of its licensing process, which is expected to be resolved between the end of this year and mid-2026, according to Diego Caicedo, who will serve as CEO of the local subsidiary.
Building Operations in Colombia
“Today we are in landing mode, building the aircraft as we go. This has been an enriching process, and we expect to obtain the incorporation license before the end of this year and the operating license next year,” Caicedo confirmed in an interview with iupana.
The move positions Revolut to compete in a highly dynamic financial landscape, where digital-first players like Nu, Mercado Pago, Stori, Plata, Nequi, Lulo, Daviplata, and Movii already have a strong foothold.
A Fertile Market for Digital Banking
Colombia’s financial ecosystem has become increasingly attractive to international fintechs, bolstered by regulatory advancements such as the new instant payments system, Bre-B. Starting in October, Bre-B will allow more than 20 million users to send and receive payments 24/7 at no cost, accelerating the mass adoption of digital transactions.
“Our objective, beyond launching fast, is to launch right and complete. As a bank, our goal is to earn the trust of our customers from day one,” Caicedo emphasized.

Aiming for a Banking License
Revolut has confirmed its intention to pursue a full banking license in Colombia. In other markets such as Europe, the U.S., and Japan, the neobank offers a wide range of products, including payments, crypto trading, investments, credit, and insurance.
In Colombia, Revolut will aim to replicate its super app model, combining international transfers, investment products, and savings solutions within a single mobile platform.
“Our goal is to deliver the same experience you have in Spain or London. We’ll bring services available from the bank, but also work to build and offer other vehicles locally,” explained Caicedo.
Raising the Bar for Digital Finance
If the entry materializes, Revolut is expected to raise the standard for digital financial services in Colombia. By integrating global products into an intuitive mobile interface, the neobank will challenge local players to innovate further.
“All successes take years of work. What we want is for Colombia to become a success story for the company, and that will require years of effort, earning customer trust, and becoming their primary bank,” Caicedo concluded.
