Starian, the private-market software company spun off from Softplan, continues to accelerate its growth strategy just months after its creation. With less than half a year of operations, the company has already completed a major funding round, executed M&A transactions, and now announced a new acquisition to expand its portfolio.

Starian acquires Contato Seguro to launch governance and compliance vertical

For an undisclosed amount, Starian acquired Contato Seguro, a Brazil-based company specialized in corporate whistleblowing software. According to the company, the transaction is part of its broader M&A strategy aimed at strengthening a vertical SaaS ecosystem, now with a dedicated focus on governance and compliance solutions.

The new Governance and Compliance vertical will be led by Contato Seguro and will operate alongside Starian’s existing business units, which include solutions for:

  • The construction industry (Sienge Ecosystem)
  • Legal intelligence (Projuris Ecosystem)
  • And operational efficiency (Checklist Fácil and Runrun.it)

A mature platform with scale and AI-driven capabilities

Founded 17 years ago, Contato Seguro brings to Starian a robust and scalable operation. The company currently serves approximately 3,000 clients and offers a proprietary platform with multi-channel reporting, generative AI for incident analysis, and a range of complementary services.

These services include support from psychologist-ombudsmen, legal professionals, real-time management reports, and market-specific integrations. Over the past three years, Contato Seguro has recorded a CAGR of around 35% and expects to close 2025 with net revenue exceeding R$ 65 million (US$ 11.9 million), representing 39% year-over-year growth.

The company’s consolidated leadership, combined with a market driven by new legal requirements, supported our decision,” said Ionan Fernandes, CEO of Starian. “The solution applies Artificial Intelligence in line with our AI First strategy and expands the capabilities of our current verticals.

Synergies across Starian’s SaaS portfolio

According to Alex Anton, CSO of Starian, the new compliance vertical already shows strong integration potential with the rest of the group.

The acquired company joins Starian with 18% of its customer base overlapping with other solutions in the portfolio,” he explained.

This level of synergy reinforces Starian’s ecosystem-driven approach and creates opportunities for cross-selling and deeper client relationships across its SaaS offerings.

Aggressive growth through funding and M&A

The acquisition of Contato Seguro marks Starian’s second M&A move since its official launch in June, when Softplan separated its operations between the public sector (Softplan) and the private market (Starian).

At launch, Fernandes stated that the company’s goal is to reach R$ 530 million (US$ 97.4 million) in revenue by 2025, driven primarily by solutions tailored to the construction sector. Starian started operations serving around 16,000 companies and aims to reach 20,000 customers by the end of 2025.

Since then, the company has raised R$ 640 million (US$ 117.1 million) from General Atlantic and acquired Anapro, a real estate-focused solution previously owned by the OLX Group. Together, the two acquisitions added approximately 4,000 new clients to Starian’s customer base.
