Maggu AI raises US$3.7M Led by DGF Capital to Digitize Pharmaceutical Retail in LatAm
Maggu AI raises US$3.7M to digitize pharmaceutical retail in Latin America, expanding its AI platform across thousands of pharmacies.
Maggu AI, an artificial intelligence platform built for pharmaceutical retail, announced the closing of a US$3.7 million funding round led by DGF Capital, with participation from Norte Ventures, Latitud, and Airborne Ventures, bringing its total funding to US$4.7 million since inception.
Tackling a critical gap at the pharmacy counter
In Latin America, pharmacy counters often serve as one of the first touchpoints within the healthcare system. Before consulting a doctor or visiting a hospital, millions of people rely on pharmacists for guidance.
Despite this, pharmacy staff operate in highly complex environments, managing thousands of products with high employee turnover and systems primarily designed for transactions rather than decision-making.
Maggu AI addresses this gap by embedding itself directly into pharmacy management systems, acting as a real-time assistant for frontline staff. When a customer seeks, for example, treatment for severe acne, the platform can instantly recommend usage instructions, highlight relevant precautions, and suggest complementary products, without disrupting the workflow.

A fragmented and under-digitized market
The pharmaceutical retail sector in Latin America remains highly fragmented, with more than 270,000 pharmacies across the region, including over 90,000 in Brazil alone. While the number of points of sale surpasses markets like the United States, the level of technological adoption remains significantly lower.
Maggu AI focuses on independent pharmacies and small to mid-sized chains, which represent the majority of the market but often lack access to advanced digital tools. Its ability to integrate with existing operational systems lowers the barrier to adoption, eliminating the need for costly infrastructure changes.
Scaling adoption and strengthening AI capabilities

With the new capital, the company plans to expand its network of integrated pharmacies, further develop its artificial intelligence layer, and grow its team. A key priority is activating the more than 15,000 pharmacies already connected to its system but not yet fully using the platform.
Backed by a database of 1.6 million products and nationwide presence in Brazil, Maggu AI is positioning itself as a critical infrastructure layer for pharmacies aiming to remain competitive in a sector that is expected to undergo significant digital transformation.
